December 2009

It has been much too long since this was updated.  To those who called and wondered whether the site was active, the answer is yes.  And yes to the question, "is your book still available?"  It was quite a year filled with trips to Arizona and Texas to help with pageant preparations, a tremendous time in June at the AZ state pageant with great results for many of my clients, Texas produced an overall state winner, and then it was on to Internationals in Dallas (back in the Lone Star State for the first time in many years) where I am very proud to be a part of the successes of an overall winner and many top five finishers.

January

The book is  getting out to pageant participants all over the country.  I really appreciate all of the support I am receiving from those that have read More Than the Crown.  Looking forward to continuing my relationship with those that have purchased my book as we begin our coaching sessions.  I have had some very good results with the phone coaching sessions with girls in many different states.  Please take a moment to drop me a line so we can discuss whether my concepts will be useful in attaining your dreams.

December

Well, now that prelims are in full swing, the phone calls for coaching session have begun.  I am always so happy I can be of service this way.  Sometimes it just isn't cost effective to fly someone half way across the country for a session, and this way we can get some of the mental tools in place that you will use, not only at your pageants, but in your daily life as well.  Most recently I prepared with Stephanie for Miss Teen New Jersey, and I'm looking forward to starting with a couple of the Utah Cinderella girls.

I want to wish everyone a very happy and safe holiday season.  If I can be of help in any way, it is always my pleasure.

July

International Cinderella in Las Vegas.  This is my fourth year, and it is great to watch the girls from around the world as they mature into beautiful young women.  I’m enjoying getting to know them better and seeing all of their hard work pay off.  I had a chance to speak with some of the directors who were not familiar with my work about what it is that I actually do.  That was nice.  I also had an opportunity to work with some girls for the first time.  Dominique and I began work via the telephone a few weeks before we arrived,  and Elizabeth and I met while we were there.  Megan was there too.  I always like spending time with the McCrays.  I sometimes think I look forward to these events as much as all of the participants do.  It was a great week.

June

This is the month of the Arizona Cinderella State pageant.  Denise Swartzman, the state director, put on another superb pageant.  (You just don’t expect anything less)  It is always so great to go back and see how much these girls have grown.  This is where I first became aquatinted with pageants four or five years ago as a judge.  All of the tots have moved on to the next division, and the misses are all teens.  Wow!!!

I had six clients for the week, and they kept me hopping.  I am very proud  to say that they all did very well including an overall crown in the teen division (congratulations Megan), two top tens (congratulations Shannan, and Courtney), a best interview award (congratulations Mikaela), a 1st alternate to the beauty crown (congratulations Jordan), and a spirit award (congratulations Heidi).  I’m also very proud of the girls with whom I worked in preparation for the pageant the last few times I was in Arizona.  Two more overall winners, a 1st and 2nd alternate, two more top tens, and another best interview.  Congratulations ladies.

Next stop is Phoenix to brush up with some of the Cinderella girls for internationals, and also work with some of the girls participating in the National American Miss Pageant.  Then it is on to Las Vegas for the aforementioned Cinderella International Pageant.  I think I get as excited as most of the participants.

Until next time, you get out what you put in.

May

I just returned from Arizona where I was working with people from a couple of different pageants systems (Cinderella Scholarship Program, and American Coed).  I also was asked to work with the Safford High Bulldog dance team.  As a sidebar, my trip to Safford took me east through the beautiful Superstition Mountains.  If you like hiking, this looks like a great area.  Back to the work at hand.  The girls on the dance team looked like they might be a tough audience, but by the end of the day with the help of one of the girls wiener dog

(probably not what she had in mind, but hey, it's baseball season) we were able to pull out all the stops and accomplish the goal of the day.  Always a good feeling.  You may be asking yourself, "wiener dog?"  Yup, you never know what motivates and moves you till you do some research.  This to me is the key to a great performance.  You can have the greatest dress, talent out the wazoo, and have practiced your introduction a thousand times, but if there is nothing going on inside, will we really care?

I'll keep you posted on developments as they occur.

More Than The Crown, a manual for winning in life as well, should be ready by June if not before.  This will be packed with all kinds of information.  Some you may know, some not.  My guarantee is that it will be presented in a different way and will force you to think from different angles.  This way you will have the ability to coach your self in those moments when you are on your own.

As always, if you ever have a question, let me know who you are, and how I can be of service.

Till then, you get out what you put in.
